solvnets-group1.gif (68942 bytes)Mineral Spirits - A thinner for oil based paints, enamels, varnishes, stains, etc. Ideal for cleaning brushes or rollers. An excellent solvent for oil, grease, tar and wax.

 


Toluene - Fast evaporating, clear, colorless hydrocarbon solvent for thinning dyes, resins, oils and certain primers and topcoats. Soluble in alcohol and insoluble in water. Ideal for removing wax, grease, polish and dirt from surfaces before painting.


Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) - A low boiling, medium drying solvent. Used primarily to thin nitrocellulose lacquers, ethyl cellulose, acrylic and vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymers. Use only where recommended by the paint product, adhesive or manufacture.


Acetone - Powerful, fast evaporating, and water soluble makes this a valuable solvent for industrial and home care use. Use as a solvent for epoxies, vinyl, lacquer, contact cements, plastics and adhesives. Use also as a metal cleaner before painting to insure adhesion of paints.


VM & P Naphtha - A fast evaporating, clear, colorless aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent. Used primarily to thin exterior or interior oil based paints, varnishes and enamels for spray applications where mineral spirits drying time is to slow.
